ok here my question i think its the headlight switch but not sure so i figured id ask. When i brought my bobcat home everything lights wise worked great except the brights i figured bad dimmer switch well i changed that and still they wouldn't work but then i was looking around under the dash found a bad fuse it was in the very bottom of the fuse block and is a 14amp fuse.
So i replaced it after replaceing it now when the light switch is pulled with the key off all the lights shutoff including the interior light. But if the key is on the head lights will come on but no brights still. Before the fuse was put in the lights would work with the key off.
Also has anyone converted there fuse box to the newer style i really hate those glass fuses. LOL
As for the headlights, I think the switch is okay - you will need to check for circuit opens from the dinner switch through the firewall connector to the high beams.
I am assuming when you hit the dimmer switch, the low beams turn off...
If nothing happens, I would suspect the dimmer switch again (bad from factory or previous owner hacked some wiring.)
Not sure what to think about that fuse - i dont have the wiring diag handy.
glass fuses are still available from most auto parts stores and electronics shops. Not much benefit fromt he royal pain of converting fuse boxes. After the problems are fixed, you should not have to touch the fuses often.
all the wiring is factory and in good shape. Dimmer switch in it is in good working order i checked it. It is getting its 12v source for the low beams to the dimmer switch but its not getting the 12v for the high beam part of the dimmer switch. This is the reason i think the switch could be bad.
