Title: The Fun Begins
Post by: Stuwil on April 04, 2010, 03:05:39 PM
The engine, tranny, interior, fuel tank are all removed. I'd send pictures if I could figure out how.

It's a 73 wagon, a sister to "Brownie", with as much TLC needed. I've been working out a small rust detail under the battery area including making a new box. The rust penetrated the fender to nearly a square foot. Welding that is really a trick. Even good metal is so thin that it just wants to burn through before tacking. I found that if I make fast passes along the edges, building up a substantial amount of weld, that I can then make a final pass along the seam. Grind it down for aesthetics.
The motor needs too much to list----can you say NEW? I'll have someone give me an estimate. Found 2 new 4 speeds on CL. The guy said he has a clutch and bell housing to match the 2.0. Fred said he has a clutch pedal assy and cable. Now the differential needs regearing to match the manual tranny. The C3 would be too expensive to rebuild plus I would really like the four speed. Any help would go a long way.
