I have a 72 ford pinto. My brake lights aren't working. Replaced my brake light switch and bulbs. I have no clue what else it might be. Any help is appreciated.
I'm no mechanic but, off the top of my head, I think I'd check the fuse box and if everything is okay there, I'd start checking the wiring. Good luck!

Good idea Dwayne. If the fuse is good, check for 12v at the switch. One wire is hot all the time, the other is hot when you push the brake. If there is no power at the switch you have an open circuit from the box to the switch. If you have power on both wires with the pedal pushed, the open is from the switch to the bulbs. Don't forget, the circuit goes through the signal light switch because the brake and signal share the same bulb. :)

Your turn signal switch is bad. I had a '74 with the same issue. Also had a '69 Dart that needed a new switch. The brake lights are controlled through that switch.
i had the lights come back once. and then for some reason they shut off again. is it still the turn signal switch?
I cant guarantee it on your car but both times I lost mine & changed the switch I never had another problem.
did you check your light grounds?
If you have a hazard light switch on the column (maybe not on the 72), fiddle with it to see if anything happens, as it is tied into the brake light circuit also and sometimes cause problems.
