Ive been rounding up parts for years for a V8 Pinto. My plan was to use the 5 lug axles, drums & backing plates from the 67 Mustang 8" I have & put them in the Pinto housing. I already plan to have the axles shortened but Ive been reading posts that say the bearings wont fit & the backing plates wont work. Other posts say they fit. What is fact & what is fiction??
I thought the 8" rears were all the same, but I'm not 100% sure. My 8" came from a '67 Mustang and I swapped the 5 lug axles for 4 lug and they worked. You could go to a web site like Rock Auto and look up bearings for the 'stang and then the Pinto and see if they list the same part#. Same for your p/s pump question.
