Title: Pinto vs Mustang II driveshafts ???
Post by: russosborne on March 26, 2010, 07:19:57 PM
Are these the same (v6 for v6, 4cyl for 4cyl, auto to auto, manual to manual)

Going to Toledo Sunday to buy some sheet metal for my II project, and the guy has all kinds of driveshafts for them cheap. If it will work I would like to get one so I can put the 8inch rear end from the II into the Pinto.

Pinto has 2.3 auto with the 6.75 rear. Someone here has told me that I need a manual driveshaft for the swap to avoid having machine work done.

If not, darn it.  :lost:

Thanks,
Russ

Two things for sure. The 8" mustang II rear requires a 1" shorter driveshaft when swapped in place of  the 6 3/4 rear. The 4-speed manual and c-4 auto have different front yokes. So make sure you get the right yoke or reuse your original and select a shaft 1" shorter. JT
