Has anyone done or heard of using a SuperCoupe drive train in a pinto?
I think there has been some discussion on this board of that type of swap but I don't know where you would look.
Now that would be awesome.
I geaned the subject with my friend who has a heavily modded 90 SC T-Bird and we couldnt find a front sump oil pan for a 3.8 to save our lives. Also there is ALOTT of stuff that goes with that motor. I would have had to do fabbing at a high cost. I think in the end a 2.3 turbo motor is better and can stand more abuse than the flimsy 3.8. Though even stock the 230 HP and 330 LB/FT of torq 3.8 would move that car like nobodys buisness. My friends made 306 HP and 400+ torq at the wheels though. But thats pushing it. I think 350 Rear wheel HP is the sane limit. I know several people with Turbo 2.3s with exess of 400 wheel HP. I know I am answering unasked questions but I have also dedicated alott of thought to alternative engines and well maybe this helps. I even thought about an N/A carburated 3.8 but the 2.8 is lighter and has already been in Pintos....whew, I am on a roll talking to myself. Hope this string of consciousness helped alittle.
you can go alot higher with the 3.8 if you use headstuds (ARP) and increase the size of them (requires drilling and tapping) take a look around this website. If i could do it all again i would have went with a SC engine with a twin turbo setup.
