Where can I find a darn windshield for a reasonable price??!!! The autoglass place want 250 bucks for one. That is more than the car!!!!!! All of the junkyards around here smashed their pinto years ago, so finding one used around here has been fruitless.
Any help would be appreciated.....
Sam
Unfortunately you are out of luck. Glass for these cars are next to impossible to find cheaply. I was lucky to find a gasket type windshield for my 78 sedan, as there was only one left in the Boise valley!
Keep checking junkyards, have friends in other states check to, that's your best bet for finding a cheap one.
where are you?
That is reasonable these days... replacement for any vehicle is about that much... Just seems like more...
250 isn't bad at all , especially if they will pop it in for that price. any details. is it tinted on top or clear? if you have a 78 or earlier you will prob have to spring for the 80 dollar gasket too. Other option is order the 79/80 version and glue it in. which essentially requires tracking down a trim ring to hide the goo inside the car. details available using search as there was a recent thread.
the thing about tinkering with cars my friend is the parts are always worth more than the car as a whole. I am currently ten grand into what started as a trade for a case of beer and the motor just fired the other day. bite the bullet if ya have the bucks, pop a windshield in and enjoy the ride.

250 does not sound too bad for a new winshield installed.Mine is chiped and pitted, so after I am done with the restore I am going to look for a new one.Where are you located? There are several junkyards with Pinto's here in southern Wisconsin.
I am up in Boise Idaho, Sam.
I know there is a 73 sedan or hatchback out in Burley, 167 miles south of me, about three hours out. I stopped by there on my way down to Hyrum Utah early this year to pickup the God Father of my daughter and snagged the wiper arms off the car. I know the windshield was on there, I do not remember if it had any cracks or not though. I will try to pull up the phone number off the receipt and give them a call to see if they still have it, or if it is in one piece. I myself am looking for a new gasket type glass for my 73 wagon, but not for awhile.
Try car-part.com. I checked here in SC for windshields and found a good list. Found 2 dusty but brand new never installed windshields on a rack in a junkyard about 90 miles from me. And yes I own them both now! JT :) :)
