The last couple of days has been REALLY nice here in WI so today, I uncovered the coupe (hatchback/Runabout) and took it for a drive. That is pretty rare since it's only March and we are normally still covered in snow  I got a LOT of looks and thumbs up so people around here are ready for Spring. The bad thing is I have to cover it back up because it's supposed to snow this weekend.
Also, after driving it for a bit today, I could not get it to start. I could not even jump start it. I turned the key over and not even a clicking sound. After about two hours of sitting, it started right up like nothing was wrong. The guy i bought it from last year had mentioned that he has a similar problem but it was OK all last year.
It's like something in the starting area get's hot and kills the cellinoid. Any ideas?
Could be any number of things Mark.If you can get it to not start again, try jumping the solenoid .Unplug the small primary wire next to the "Hot" battery side ,and jump across the two terminals to see if if cranks.MAKE SuRE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL!If it cranks then it is in the primary circit,ie ignition switch,neutral/clutch switch , or wireing. If it does not crank it the solenoid starter or starter cable.
When I saw the heading for this thread I just had to jump in!
If I am hijacking this thread let me know, as I don't want to offend. I too took a drive this evening (around twilight time) to a store to gather my St. Patrick's Day fixin's and the air was so sweet and refreshing! Now don't hate me folks, but it's been rather HOT here in America's Finest County! The flowers are in bloom, and the evening air is perfumed with its alluring floral aroma. Meanie drove very nicely too. I think even SHE appreciated the run!
As for your starting problem, like was mentioned above, there are several possibilities. First, though, check your battery and cables and posts. I have had issues where the battery shifted and somehow I was unable to start Meanie...not even a click! I eventually put a new connector on the negative cable after cutting the frayed and rusted wires off. She hasn't had a problem since. On my Rodeo, I've had many issues concerning corrosion on the posts and clamps. If it's not any of this stuff, then move up to solenoid. I hope this helps. Good luck! ;D
You did not hijack the thread. This was a two part topic so anyone can jump in. Whether it be to help with my problem to to tell us about getting your cars out before the April thaw ;D
Cool! Thank you. I'm glad I didn't! ;D
