I'm putting an engine from an 82 mustang into a 74 pinto. they use different moter mounts. how can i solve this problem? also, is there anythng thing else i might be forgetting? i'm a new to working on cars and any help would be great. thanks
You MUST use a 2.3 L Pinto oil pan and pick-up.
I take it your old motormounts from the Pinto are shot or non-existant. If the local parts supplier cant get them, try Energy Suspension. They might have aftermarket ones or something that will take little fabrication.
If you originally had a 2.3 in your Pinto then the stock pinto mounts will work. If it had a 2.0 then someone else will have to step in. Also, when did they start using the 1 piece rear seal? This adds another issue of using the stock Pinto oil pan on a late model 2.3. I gave up on using the rubber pan end seals and use straight silicone. problem solved.
