Title: Changing out ring and pinion.
Post by: Oddzball on March 04, 2010, 09:58:22 AM
One thing I have always been afriad to do is ring and pinion gears... I guess my question is does anyone here have experience with them? Is it really as easy as it looks, and can you really screw it up or is it a no brainer.

I understand the concept of marks with paint, the toe and heal thing, just worried if i do it wrong i will ruin my whole rear end.

Oddz..
It's very easy to mess up if you've never done it before, and the consequences can vewyy Expwensive!
Seriously, have a Pro supervise the process, or Just take it to the experts and let them do it! It's time consuming and must be done right the first time!

I have an original Ford shop manual for servicing the 6 3/4 integral axle. If that is what you have, lemme know. I might be able to make some scans of the pages and put them together in a zip file to email you.
