Title: Pinto Speech
Post by: FlyerPinto on March 02, 2010, 10:56:34 PM
I was one of a group of guest speakers tonight at Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio. The university was having a "thing" to honor their published faculty and I was included because of my children's books and also because of Pinto Times. The gathering lasted for about an hour. When it was my turn to speak I told them about the PCCA, our membership and our cars, as well as the magazine. Then I read an excerpt from the editorial for the edition of the magazine going out in the mail tomorrow. I was given several suggestions about how to further the reach of the magazine, and a good friend of mine offered to take the idea to her publisher. I don't know where it will all go, but everyone liked the magazine and they got a kick out of the editorial. Like always I hear them say, "I used to have a Pinto" or "My folks had one" or some version of that story. It's great to know so many people out there have good memories of our cars. One lady said the magazine made her want to have her old Pinto back...Anyway there were photos taken and when I get them I'll post them here on the site. Take care.

Matt, what a great story! You might've started a grass-roots "craze"! lol.

The other day I was driving Meanie and a couple in a big ol' (actually late-model) Ford pick-up yelled at me across three lanes, "We love your car!"  It's great that there are people who are, or were, fond of Pintos like that lady at the "thing" that said she wanted her old Pinto back. That is SOOOO cool!!!!!  It really warms my heart. Matt, I hope this friend does right by you. The magazine is great so far... yet it also has potential!  ;D  Keep up the good work!  We're rooting for ya!

What's really cool is to go through the drive through and catch some teenager working the window who has no idea what a Pinto is, they absolutely love 'em! The guy down at Tim Hortons wants my Cruising Wagon so bad he may drive himself right out of puberty. Thanks for the support, I'll take all the help I can get. :)

Matt,

I'm elated to learn that your hard work on the Pinto Times is being recognized by people other than the handful of subscribers we have here!  Thanks so much for everything you do.

Dwayne
