I was given a C4 trans a while ago that I plan on using for a 351W swap. The bellhousing fits the block no problem.
I am missing the flexplate, though I do have the trans and torque converter.
Here's my question...how can I *positively* identify what I have for a C4? Apparently there were several, and I need to figure out what I need for a flexplate in terms of how many teeth. It *may* even be out fo a Mustang II, which would be great for my application. There are numbers all over the trans, but I don't know which ones identify what the trans actually IS.
The shaft has 26 splines, and there are 7 bolts holding the bell onto the trans. The filler is on the bottom, where the pan bolts on.
Any idea how I can definitively tell what I've got here?
Thanks
Paul
Count the bolts holding the fluid pan on. If it's a C4 there will be 11.
Hope this helps,

Hi Bill-
I don't know if I made this clear, but I'm sure it IS in fact a C4. I know there were several made, and since I have to get a flywheel for it, I need to figure out which flavor C4 it is, so I can get the right flywheel (164 or 157 tooth)...
From there I have to figure out if it's 28.2oz or 50oz. balance, and if it will even WORK with my 351W...
Thanks
Paul
