Anybody have any advice or sugestions on who to contact for shipping a pinto?
Thanks, Robert
Robert,
There are many reputable companies that ship cars. Would be helpful to have more details, such as how far, enclosed or open, etc.
Dwayne
The last one i bought off ebay was shipped by Fed Ex, enclosed trailer, cost i think was around $900
depending on distance and if it runs or not the other thing to check out is flying in and picking it up. i tried to ship a bike about 1500 miles which was also in the 800 dollar range. flew in on spare air miles drove back spent less than 200 on fuel and food on the way home plan a couch stop half way back with a friend, fellow fanatic or long lost relative.
even if i had paid for a hotel, flight and halved the fuel mileage i still would have saved a couple hundred bucks and got a sweet road trip out of the deal. You can usually get insurance in your area with just the vin number then purchase an in transit sticker from the local dmv once you complete the sale. plus you get to see the merchandise. better a bus ticket home than boned on a piece of crap car.
of course stationary pinto's need not apply.
crossing borders requires paperwork and some bank to pay the taxes on import.
try local truckers that run to the area. might catch one on a backhaul that comes back empty and will grab it. talk to the guy who drives the actual truck not the office. they may sling it on for a couple hundred bucks cash beer often lubricates this transaction. Have done that before with a torino we wanted for parts.
