Title: Carbed turbo question...
Post by: 69GT on February 06, 2010, 12:38:57 PM
Ok I am back to thinking of the carbed 2.3 turbo idea. I really just want to see if I can build one . I might F.I. it later.

   I have a 2.3 turbo motor out of a TC and a 72 4-speed trunk model currently a 2.0.
-Got the 8" Pinto rear.
-Got the T-5.
-Will probably get the MSD 6 btm for it.
- I plan on completely enclosing the carb like the new Paxton blower kits do on V-8s.

Main question is where to get the appropriate fuel pressure regulator for the carbed set up? I know they use them on V-8 apps but is there any difference? Where can I get one? Any recommendations?

There's some pretty good info in this current thread on turboford:

Hey thanks. I have been coming the thread for info.

I am looking for any one who has enclosed the whole carb. It seems to be way easier to tune that way. Fabbing up a box for the 2-barrel would be fun and/or annoying. :)

i looked at the box idea but didn't do it because of room problems.  I couldn't get it to fit the way i wanted to make it work.  i would recommend an investment in a professional carb and a carb hat.  it is a lot easier to tune because it is all out in the open.  Having a profession carb done will save you a mountain of headaches as blow through carbs have come a long way.
