As far as I know they are the same.  I did the swap of a 78 Mustang II, 8" into my 73 wagon.  It bolted right in.  I was also running the Turbo Coupe 16" (225-60) wheels - temporarily. They stuffed the wheel wells like "Dog" Chapman's wife Beth fills out her bra  :surprised:  :surprised:.  What I'm saying is if there would have been a difference in size I would think the 16" wheels would have made it know.

The 5 lug axles come from a Granada and I think a Maverick.

i'm sorry these are not factory axles. they are after market. i'm trying to put together the rear from a '77 pinto wagon that had the v/6 in it with the 8" rear. i got a pair of 5-lug axles that are supposed to be for the mustang ll swap over from 4-lug to 5-lug. and i would like to use them if they are going to work and like i said not burn up the bearings. they are 28 spline just like the pinto axles that came from the rear.
