Title: Timing and Distributor
Post by: delizious on January 29, 2010, 10:23:46 PM
Ok...so this might be a stupid question to ask but what side of the car is the timing mark on, and also where is number one spark plug wire on the distributor is at 11:00 or is it on 5:00. The book does not specify according to the cheltons 1973 manual i am not able to determine these facts.

What engine have you got? 1600? 200? 2300? on the 2000 the #1 wire is at the 2 or 3 o'clock position, if you're facing the front of the car.#2 is at the 10-11 o'clock;  #3 is  at the 4-5 o'clock;  #4 the 7-8 o'clock. This is according to my 2000 cc '73 wagon. The 2300 cc should be the same.  The '71-'75 Chiltons helped me configure this too. Don't know about timing marks though. Good luck!

Er, that's a good question. I haven't had to pull the distributor cap off my '73 yet. Sorry. Somebody step in please!
