Title: Hood Rod Holder on a 77 CW??
Post by: pintogirl on January 25, 2010, 09:43:00 PM
I had to put a new hood prop rod on my 77CW.  Well, I went to put it down and latch it in place but there is no where for it to latch!!  :hypno:  I went out and looked at my 77 standard wagon and it's latch is actually part of the metal that the hood bumper (little round thing that adjusts) screws into. I looked at the CW again and it doesn't look like the latch broke off. The metal looks nice and round and smooth.

So the question is, does the CW have a different hood prop rod latch then the standard wagon and if it does, what does it look like??

Thanks

On my 78 I have a little plastic clip.  Here are a couple pics. Mine was missing when I got the car.  The square hole on the radiator support is where it goes.  If you have the hole you can pick the clips up on ebay.  I believe you can get it and the rod pivit clip for under 10 bucks plus shipping.

SSC Enterprises also carries some select parts for the Pinto under the Pinto parts section as mentioned before. I thought they had these clips and checked and it shows they still do, along with some other handy parts. $3 for radiator support clip, $5 for rod pivot clip...not sure about shipping didn't check that far.

Hope this helped  :)
