i have seen many people asking about help on a wiring diagram for the 2.3 swap into the pinto and i cannot find anything and i just dont know where to start and what to do sorry for the repeated question just need advice thanks
Well, let me say first off this is a tough one. A lot of people have said to get the Murkur harness since it is designed as a "stand alone." Others recommend I believe it was the '86 harness as second choice.
I didn't follow either recommendation. My T/C was an '88 also with ride control and ABS. I completely pulled every bit of the harness and laid it out on the ground (It must weight about 35 pounds by the way). Then I spent a LONG time disecting out what wasn't needed. I'll bet I had over 50 hours in that process! All the stuff around the dash center area and steering column really gets jumbled (see attached picture).
One thing I did do was keep the T/C fuse block and basically wired it as a separate entity to the battery. I also used the T/C steering column, retained the cruise control and intigrated as much of the dash gauges as I could.
While I have not found a wire I shouldn't have cut, I still have about 15 or so wires I'm still trying to figure out if I can get rid of or not. My car started on the first go, but I have had driveabilty issues - whether they are wiring related or not I'm still not sure.
All the best, but frankly there is no simple "do this" process. It is more of a "journey of discovery."
