Title: Grills
Post by: Carolina Boy on December 25, 2009, 11:16:31 PM
Since the fenders of the 71 thru 78 are the same, I have a grill question.
( since I can't find that #%*# little bracket)
How do the earlier grills mount, pictures would help.

It's the side mount area I am thinking about. My 76 grill has to have small breackets on the bottom. I need to know if a 74 or 75 will work and how they're mounted.

CB, what little bracket are you looking for and for what exact year?  I assume you have a 76 grille?
I might have one one for 78, as i took home a whole 78 front clip, less the broken plastic grille.
Just wanted to double check with ya...

Yea 76 I have a 76 grill. I took the 78 front off mine. The rubber bezels were junk. and since I had the 76 parts, switched them out. Going to retro fit a front valance from Blu and a rear from 72pair. What I need to Know iswhat other grill can I use if I don't find that bracket.

I feel so stupid for not thinking of this earlier, but here I go....

So a yard I go to now and then (about 30 miles away), has a 71 Sedan and a 76 runabout.

I was there today to look for a part and went to the front of the car and thought of you CB!

The grill is smashed, but exactly what does this bracket look like??? Are you in need of the support bar that goes from the top of the radiator opening to the bottom, and has two tabs for speed clips on it, which the two center screws for the grill thread into??

If so, I spoke to the gentleman about a price for it and he quoted me $15.00 if I pull it.

Let me know, I will see what I can do to snag it!

I haven't looked at this post lately, due to the health problem of the past 1 1/2 months. dave1987, is the car available still? If you're out that way in the future, would you check on the bracket. I sent money for the 75 grill but it was lost in the mail.
The attached pictures are of the bracket and where it goes on the bottom of the grille. "bracket oo3 is the one I need (pasengerside Bottom)

Now I've been following this for some time now and one question plagues me: Why aren't you putting a '78 grille on her? She IS a '78, right?

Which reminds me... will you want the front bumper spacer (the car-colored piece that goes between the grille and the bumper? It's light blue like the car it came off of.
