So I fished this console out of a dumpster 12 years ago after a pinto guy tossed it out saying it was junk. I finally had a use for it so after some deliberation I decided to change the color from red to Tahoe blue. I hate to do such a drastic change but I have no other use for it in red or a derivative of the such. Here is what I did in a couple hours.

The SEM paint is stronger than the plastic ever was. It looks really nice and after a few hours the low gloss look really came out nice. The key to a successful dye job is the prep (cleaning) and the primer.
what is SEM paint???? :lost:

Good stuff! Every one of their products that I have used is great. I really recommend this company.

Agreed. SEM products are "the bomb".

Looks great Pintopower! SEM paints are the best out there for plastic paints on things like consoles, panels and other highly touched/rubbed surfaces. They last forever.
I did the same things to the Mustang II console I have in my 78 sedan. Red to black, but couldn't find a silver color that resembled the chrome so I just left it a grayish silver. Wish I had those chrome strips on the sides though! ;)
In my red 79 wagon, the interior went from light blue to black. 90% of the panels are real black panels. The rest were dyed... 12 years ago. They still look perfect and the only way you can tell that they were dyed is that they look way better than the factory black ones! :D
The chrome strip is for the deluxe ones. I didn't know that there was another version until my friend got one for his pinto that didn't have the chrome.
Thanks for the compliments. It really looks great!
