As I mentioned in the Chat, this car is quite possibly a clone:
Half hatch ,Not full hatch Runabout
VIN Missing a digit that would indicate model year
No trim and paint codes shown
Wrong color interior
Decals (Olympic USA Shield ) missing
Original color coded wheels not with car, Has Mustang 2 alloys mounted
Look at Pintony's Sprint on the Cookieboy's Toys Site and you'll see the subtle differences. He has VIN Sticker shown with all info!
It's still a nice car (and from CA too) but even a Half hatch would need to be flawless to be going for $5K.
Disclaimer: I may eat my words and go visit my family just to look over this ride anyway. I'm an addict and I admit it

Heh Dave,
My heart is tugging as I write this, but First person inspection is in Order!
Well,
I just ran the VIN from the Ad along with the Ca plate # through the CA DMV Website renewal process.
First, The web site filled in the missing first Digit as 1 meaning it's a '71 as last titled and registered, so CA still has active records on the car. I don't know if any Sprints were sold in '71 .
And the BIG surprise if the Bill of Sale was shown at $4985 , this little gem will cost 519 buckos to register back in the golden state. 436 dollars of that is Use/Sales tax, 83 dollars for that plate sticker for one year!
We are SO Screwed in CA, I would do better to register the car in Oregon ,and park it up there.

Interesting... I guess I won't complain anymore.... Here in Oregon, ours went up from $75 bucks for two years to $107 in October. I was at the DMV earlier this month to renew the tags on the CW and the lady told me personalized plates are over $200 for two years now. Those are fixed costs up here in Oregon. I am going to have to save my pennies to get Tigger's plates renewed this summer....
I think the car is a clone. All the sprints I have seen were all 72's, Pinto's, Maverick, Mustangs. The car has been on CL off and on for the past month now.
Couldn't this lil' gem be just a special order paint jobber? I know it's not a Sprint, but didn't Ford offer sporty packages for Pintos even then?

Maybe it was a "Galpinized" Pinto, the VIN is for the San Jose plant!
Pintosopher...
Yes I get it... Galpin Ford...Galpinized... har har. ;D

Becky,
Go to Cookieboys toys page, he has a whole section on the Galpinization of the Pinto under Vintage pinto history
I didn't say it first..
