Title: heater valve question
Post by: dholvrsn on December 16, 2009, 03:30:58 PM
This question concerns the temper control vacuum valve on later Pintos with factory AC. The part number is either D3AZ-18502-A or DZAH-18502-A4A. Does the thing supposed to port vacuum to the two outlets when it's slid over to the left cold side or the right hot side? Thanks!

BTW, I had a technically incorrect thought about the  vacuum canister the other day, "I don't want all the vacuum to leak out!"  ::)

Ok I hope i get this correct. I think the default is "open" with no vacuum so that means when the a/c is set to on or fresh AND the slider is all the way to cold the vacuum is applied to the valve and it  "closes" so that hot water does not flow. Only of those parameters are met will the valve close. I dealt with this on my 74 Pangra with factory air. I figured it out when looking at my 79.

This is the valve you need for 74-80
