With a new paint job I'd hate to mess it up locking & unlocking the door. Has anyone converted to power locks?
I haven't, but will keep an eye on this tread. I would love to do it to mine.
Me as well. My brother said he has changed out manual door locks on older (80's cars) cars at work before (he works at Best Buy), but never on something with mechanical locks as stone age as a Pinto. It can't be TO complicated, it's basiclly just a motor module which turns to press the locking shaft down, or pull the shaft up.
I'm wanting to put this in my car, along with an alarm system.
My Ranger did not come with power locks from the factory but since I have an alarm on it I added door lock actuators to give myself keyless entry. Adding the universal acutators to any car is not hard in my opinion. The hard part was to figure out the wiriing with the relays. Keep in mind there is a lock and unlock relay not a left and right relay.

I've seen the kits. Just looking for someone that's actually done it! I'm sure there are additional things I'll need to lock & unlock with a fob!
Checked out that link and looked at the instrutions in the PDF file. It looks pretty easy.

I put some in a 1971 Dodge van once back in the day!! It was not easy. But then the kits were pretty much a novelty and a "one size fits all" thing.
The kits today are still a kind of a "one size fits all" thing but I can imagine that the quality and the parts/pieces are more suited to more 'recent' vehicles.
I've considered doing this and power windows also. Unfortunately tho, I have not yet done it.
I've done the power windows and love them! I have seen PDL kits I think from JC Whitney, they attach to the original lock rods.
