Title: Anyone know or could measure the length of a steering column?
Post by: russosborne on December 09, 2009, 05:33:11 PM
Looking for a measurment from the ragjoint half that attaches to the column to the steering wheel if possible.
Doesn't need to be exact, within an inch would work fine.
Yes, I'm still thinking about trying to swap in a Mustang II column I have since I can convert that one into a tilt column.
I just can't take the one out of the pinto to measure right now. And no, I haven't even measured the II one yet, but I did get it out of the II last night.
(long story short, bought the II recently as a project, but it turns out the subframe is rusted badly along with the floors and aprons, so it has now become a parts car and something I will be using to learn to weld on.)

Thanks,
Russ

I have one in my garage that I recently pulled however the shaft slides for impact purposes so I am not sure if this one has moved or not.  I will try and remember to measure it when I get home.

I measured 28 inches from the back of the steering wheel to the end of the shaft where the rag joint connects.  I hope this helps.
