Post by: totljeep on November 24, 2004, 01:04:07 PM
Any one know how many miles per gallon a stock 2.3 should get?

There are a lot of factors for this. Weight of car, trans, EFI or carb, tire size, what kind of shape the engine is in, and rear gearing.
Mine at 75mph gets about 24-26 mpg. I would like to get better, but I really don't travel with it much.

my stock 75 gets about 20.5mpg, but i have a very heavy foot, 20 min thru the city, then 20 min on the highway, and imusually late and moving at about 80mph on the highway...  i slow it donw a bit for the way home, 70mph....

I ran a full tank and calculated the mileage to be 16.4 mpg at an average speed of 60 with stock 13" tires. That's just piss poor mileage. I would expect better than that from a 351 HO with my foot to the floor. I don't know what the stock rear is but I'm thinkin that's bad with a 4.88 cramed in there. The car runs great and the auto tranny shifts perfect. I don't smell any fuel nor have I found any sign of leakage. Any ideas what's up with this?

Just an idea but have you checked the timing. If it wasn't running good you might check the timing belt. I had one jump once but it ran bad.
