OK, I had a set of toyota bucket seats give to me last weekend, I figured a quick swap and be done with it, newer style seats are sure put together alot better that the 4 bolts holding the brackets on the orignal pinto seats, I ended up grinding the brackets off the new seats, blew a few hours , I learned the toyota seat need the brackets cause the sure flex alot without. Now I got a set of new barstools in my garage, my question, what seats work bests for replacements with less fabracation
MustangII, Foxstang, Tbird, most late model Fox bodied cars (you gotta swap tracks tho) I've got nissan Pulsar seats in mine (Required grinding & fitting). Any seats with 4 bolt feet can be adapted with some UHHHH creative engineering. (Personally I like the seats in the Chevy Beretta GTZ, but they have a 3 bolt setup? Also Subaru XT seats are cool but cross bolt thriugh the tunnel & rockers!) I actually measured Saab 900 seats & they're pretty close (Unfortuneately I didn't have any Torx bits with me)
I used a set of Fiero seats, had to fabricate passenger side a little bit - nothing like a hot wrench and a sledgehammer at 12:30 pm, but they're in and I have speakers in the headrest.
