Hi
Could someone please tell me if use bumper mounts from a 1972 and put them on my 1974 will the bumpers that came on the car work?
Thanks
I drilled a hole in the shocks on a VW once to tuck the bumpers in. I was thinking of doing the same on my crusing wagon but I have not got around to it. I am not sure how close you could get them. You probably could slot the shocks some more to get them further back if needed. I hope it works for you.
like this? i cut the front brackets up flush to where they slid inside the frame mounts and welded the numper mounting plates to that. it removed ithink 4 inches upfront and in the back i cut 3 inches and did the same thing. they tucked rather nicely imo.

Pinturbo75, would be real interested in some detailed pics and info on how you did your bumpers.
Thanks, Tink
