Hey! I exceeded the 5 messages per hour! on the carb subject. yeah the little weber is too small. ak millers had a draw thru inlet for the larger autolite/ford 2bbl (same as a holley i think) that was used on their ford truck kits.
the carb i used was pirated off a 360 in a 1/2 ton p-up. we did a lot of work to tone it down to where it would work on a little motor but it really did work well. no more melted pistons. (melted pistons from a turbo motor make great 'modern art!) and the greater air flow made for a more 'satisfying' freeway experience. if you know what i mean?
i did have some problems with both of the set-ups when doing any mountain driving what with it going rich and all but it wasn't a deal killer
There were two of those Autolite carbs. One for the 289/302 and one for the 360/390 engines. The butterfly size was cast onto the outside of the body. You could take the entire top off as one piece and start the motor up as long as you pluged the hole for the air cleaner rod. Sit there and watch the fuel while it was running. There still used in ministock.
