Title: Door hinges
Post by: tatersgravy on November 15, 2004, 09:46:48 PM
Hello, I'm a "New-Bie".
I was just given a 1975 Pinto that was my uncle's car for over 20 years! He passed away last week and my aunt said if I wanted it to come get it or it was going to the junk-yard. This car sat for over two years under an old oak tree. I had to replace the fuel pump, drane the gas tank, install a new set of plugs and fill the radiator. After about ten minutes of priming and pumping the car fired right up! I drove it (after filling the tires up with air) 45 miles to my house were it now sits waiting for a complete brake job and a much needed buffing!
The car is in pretty good shape but needs new drivers side door hinges or re-placement pins and bushings.
Can anyone direct me as to where I might purchase these parts either used or new?

I would also like to add a front and rear sway bar, but not sure where to look for these parts.
Any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advance for any help offered.

"Great Site"!

Welcome to the board.  You can buy the door pins at most autoparts store.  I have found them in the "help" section.  It is a universal pin that is cut to the correct length once it is installed.  I believe they are between $8 and $10 now.

You can look at the " Links" section on this board and you might find sway bars. You should also look in ebay.

hinges are easy to repair. I did mine, and just replaced the top bushings on mine i think.

from what I hear it's not too hard to replace those hinges, which is a good thing since mine are sagging very badly.
