Title: 73 Wagon Rack and Pinion Bushings?
Post by: Lost Coz on November 04, 2009, 05:31:38 PM
I have been searching for Rack bushings for the 73 for the last month and can't seem to find them. I did a search of this site and couldn't find what I need...so, Does anyone know of a place that either carries these or makes them? 74 and up are everywhere, but no luck with the 73's. I have replaced all of the front suspension bushings and parts with new ones...the only thing left is the rack Bushings. The place I got all of the other parts doesn't carry them either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry I don't have an answer.  However, does anyone know why Ford used this "one off" rack in 1973 only?

L.C., maybe you can cut/weld the rack mounts off another year and use a more common rack???

I did think about doing the mounts off of another car, I have a 74 wagon parts car and the mounts are good. It just seems like alot of work to make the change.

Is the rack in a 73 Mustang the same? I have looked in Mustang Parts and can't figure it out. Maybe some aftermarket Mustang place might have them?

One of mine is starting to get real bad, so that is why the replacement idea. I'll keep up the hunt. Might get lucky.
