Howdy Y'all
No, I didn't get kidnapped by Carolina Boy- not that that wouldn't be interesting (Ok folks stop whispering and giggling!) My question is: How many miles per gallon does a 2.8 in a '75 Pinto Squire (or any wagon for that matter) with automatic transmission ideally get? I'm coming to some startling conclusions about being able to keep my beloved Rodeo, especially in these troubled times where one ( ! ) coil replacement sets me back over $200, and tires are over $100 apiece. I love my Rodeo, and I do want a good reliable car. Times are real tough, though, and Pintos really are easier and less expecnsive to fix. Thank you in advance. :)
a v 6 i do not know but my 76 wagon with 2.3 and power stearing, and ac, auto get around 22-24 on highway but that is the only way i drive it

16-20 mpg depending. I used to get about 18 city and 20 freeway in my bobcat. it has the 2.8l v6 with the c3 Automatic.
20 is what I was thinking which is not great. I'm not going to spent a whole lot of time on the v6 in my Cruiser but if it turns out that it runs OK I am going to put an early Ranger OD trans behind it, that should help. 25 would be nice..... ;D Ahhhhh, projects, projects, so little time, so little money
Tell me about it Jim!
I'm disappointed about the mileage- that's about what the Rodeo averages (of course I'm a leadfoot too). I love my Isuzu Rodeo but it'd be so much less expensive to maintain the V6 Pinto- no smog, no expensive coils that go out, no $100 tires to replace, etc. etc. but then again it would be much more devastating if the Pinto got rear-ended (smaller, ins. thinks they're worthless, harder to hind parts for) and naturally one less Pinto on the road is a tragedy to me. I guess I just need to strike it rich so I can snap up all the stray (for sale) Pintos and give them forever homes. ;)
