Title: Cruising Wagon finally home!
Post by: Mike Modified on November 02, 2009, 12:34:16 PM
Yesterday, I finally got my CW out of the yard at my shop and home where I can work on it.

Plans are for a turbo motor, nearly ready.

Yesterday was a doubly good day:

Dashpad currently in the CW:

Looks like a handful! Projects like these are fun though. I'm looking forward to seeing your CW progress into a fun fast car! :)

Chris, not so true! Didn't I help you out with a nice steering wheel from Spokane OR?

Jeez, Chris.  He advertised it at $55.00, so he was not giving it away.

But then again, I didn't pay what he was asking.   ;D

Absolutely, Dave, I misspoke....and I still appreciate your help. The steering wheel goes in very soon, as I finish up my dash/firewall restoration.

Don't mean to sell anyone short!!!  ;D

Making progress.

Pulled the battery box, rust underneath.  >:(

Patched it:

Ooops!  Some that is in the way of the turbo.  And while I could have used a BIG hammer, I chose to cut and weld.  The piece welded in is a approximately 6" x 13.5":

Engine in:

Clearance under the turbo.  The red coolant line is resting on new sheetmetal.

Ok, the easy part is done!     Now comes the hard part!

Long time without a report.  On the street, 99% ready to take it in and get it smogged.

Lots more to do after that!  But one step at a time.

Dave: I have a grille.  I had to do some "wacking and hacking" to clear the intercooler, so I'll need to fab upper outer mounts (and possibly a center).

Gerry: the wheels are 15x7 BBS-style "Mustang wheels" off of local C/L; not perfect, but I didn't argue with the $100 that he wanted.

Sunday mock up:

Pure serendipity that the offset is perfect.  OBTW: 195/55R15s and 235/60R15s.

Mike

Note the 3" exhaust  ;D

I think you did just fine for $100 :surprised:

Hey, the wagon is lookin' good!! I just bought a 74 with Cruisin' Wagon panels on it. Going to completely dismantle this one and do it right! I think I may go the V8 for it.
