Title: To good to be true?
Post by: pintogirl on October 24, 2009, 05:57:27 PM
Yep, it sure was! http://sacramento.craigslist.org/zip/1435675435.html (http://sacramento.craigslist.org/zip/1435675435.html)  I don't know how long that link will work so I will explain too!

A friend of Bob's called him and told him about a free pinto on CL. I looked it up and sure enough there it was. No phone number but had an address, kind of. Well I emailed the guy to ask him to call me, but we also decided to drive over there too. After drivng 30 some odd miles, we found B St. No 1525 though and no Appt. building like was in the pic. After driving around for a bit, we finally asked a Wheatland Cop about the building, I showed him the pic that was on CL. He said there was no building like that in that town. Also said I was the second person to ask him about it. When we were at a stop light getting ready to leave the town, a passenger in a litte red truck waved us down and asked if we knew where 1525 B st. was! LOL After we told him it didn't exist in this town, and he left, Bob told me that it was a friend of Bob's co worker!  So we think the co worker sent him after it. The co worker is always on me about one of my Pintos, but I won't get rid of mine!

Anyway, I checked on my gps for 1525 B st. in all towns around Wheatland and not even Sacramento came up with a 1525 B st. At least not on my gps. Haven't tried on my computer yet!

So no free Pinto today! :(

That is so mean and so hilarous at the same time.

I just checked CL and there was another post for the same car. Actually several posts. 2 saying it was a hoax and 1 Saying that it wasn't a hoax and they gave another address, this time it's an actual address in Wheatland, and he also gave a number. I called the number and it went to a fax machine!  The address is one that we had drove by but really didn't pay attention, but also didn't see a Pinto. I didn't drive there again! LOL  I flagged his add and also put up a couple more that said that it was a hoax. Within 5 mins, the author of the add with the new address, pulled his add! Guess he is done trying to fool people.

I figured if it was a real ad, he would have replied to my and our friends emails!!

Deffinitely someone with issues.  HMMM! Now why pick a Pinto and not a Mustang which would have more peopel going in circles?  My guess, it was a Vega owner.   :police:

I would say be careful he wasn't collecting email addresses to send spam or even worst a virus. >:(
