Post by: Perry on November 08, 2004, 09:54:55 AM
Please can any one tell me if the doors off a runabout will fit on my 1977 crusin wagon, and if the door of 1980 are the same as 1977.

Thanks

Wagon doors are different than the sedan and hatchback.  I believe the wagon doors are the same from 77-80 but I will verify with my collision guide later tonight....

Definately let us know. When I looked up a door on car-part.com for my 79 wagon it listed doors from 72 on up.

According to the collision guide.  71- 6/27/77 doors are the same.  From 6/27/77-80 the doors are different.  I am not sure what the difference is but, the change was made to the sedan/HB doors as well since they too follow the same date range.

i think its just and internal difference, window regulator design or something like that.

If you look up the fiberglass replacement doors they say the wagon doors are different.

The only difference between the sedan/runabout doors and the wagon doors are the window frames. The frames for the wagon are straight across at the top while the frame for the sedan/runabout tapers down towards the rear. With some work, the window frame could be swapped from one door to the other for proper fitment. The difference between the early and late doors could be two things. The window regulators were changed from a two arm scissor type (early) to a single arm style in the later cars. I don't have my parts books in front of me for the date of the change. Also the earlier doors did not have the addition of the crash protective bar in the door. The doors for each specific body type will physically interchange, but for the differences noted above. One final note, I also remember someone telling me that they thought the door hinge mounting on the '71-'73 doors may be different that the '74-'80 doors. I have never had the opportunity to confirm this, however.
