among all the minor touch up work that needs to be done on my 80, one issue has been haunting me since i came across it about a year ago. i got a steady drip from the rear main seal. this , ibelieve is due to the previous rebuild done about 100k mi or so ago. the butt end of the crank looked sandblasted kinda. i didnt think much of it at the time but two aggravating seals later im convinced that is the issue. she is my daily driver, to and from school, and I DELIVER PIZZA IN IT! believe me it hurts putting miles on her for quick change. anyhoo aside from the constant flow of oil in and out of my engine i got to deal with the worry that slowly im vibrating the whole crank and wearing down all the bearings to the point one day it hits the fan, hard. so finally im asking the pinto guru's what to do
new crank? is that even possible with the rebuild?
or should i runn her till she dies then replace the engine?
you need to head on out to your nearest 'good' parts store or even a truck or agricultural parts store. what you're looking for is a "Speedi Sleeve" from CR/SKF Industries try this link:
