Title: MustangII rear sway bars?
Post by: crazyhorse on November 06, 2004, 12:00:58 PM
Will a rear sway bar from a MustangII fit a Pinto? If I can lay hands on a bar what other stuff will I need? I'd like to get my Lil' Horse cornering flat & hard so I can chase down Honduh's here in the crooked smokies. Anyone here ever hear of "the Dragon" AKA U.S. hwy 129 through Deal's Gap NC. Imagine if you will 318 turns in 11 miles with over 1800' in elevation changes. (there was a song like that in the 80's "you spin me right 'round baby right 'round") Hopefully I can get my Lil' Horse competitive with the civic's & crx's that are going from here in the spring. (the same week as the Pinto Meet actually, they're going sunday) I've been twice & my RWD gives me a slight advantage, but thier power makes up for it. I figure if I can make it stick a little better I'll be keeping up. quite well. Here's a link to a map of the Dragon's tail itself, keep in mind that this only 11 miles long!

Sway bar is a direct bolt on if you get all the hardware. Make sure the front bar is bigger. I use a 1" in front, with a 3/4" in the rear. Why do you have to catch those RICERS? You should be out front!!! Put a gear in that pup and you'll think its on nitros. I've got a 4:11 in mine, with a 4 speed. 5 speed is next. DICK

as far as gears go I've already got too low a gear in it... 95mph@5500rpm With it being an auto trans it's a tad short on power, but I'm looking into a Ranger roller cam to fix that. currently 88HP with a 10% drain from the auto trans is kinda sluggish, but pretty peppy off the line. (unlike the VTEC's I can launch at my torque peak of 2200rpm. The VTEC's would need  a 5000rpm clutch dump, fun, but not repeatable LOL) I can run with the ricers on the Dragon, but a bit more handling would give me a BIG advantage.

Yes the Mustang II rear sway will fit.I have one on my Rallye.I'm using the II lower shock mount, which means that i have to use the II rear shocks. This will work great because i'm planning on getting the KYB'S for all corners. The rear KYB's are for the Mustang II,haven't found any for the Pinto rear.
