Which one of you Pinto nuts would be be one to send a stock 289302/351 pan to, to mod it for the V8 swap. I would most likely screw it up. I am willing to pay for that kind of service.
Any body have a picture of the regular small block pan and the Mustang ll pan for comparision side by side.
CB if i had one i would gladly send it. you can buy a new front sump from ebay for around 30 dallors. the mustang 2 on the rear section is wrapped very close to the crank and goes all the way to the sump. the other is couple inches deeper on the rear and as it goes to the sump it gets deeper with a sweeping corner into the sump. Im not sure i might have pics of the cuts i made in my pan in my thread but its not hard at all to raise the rear up close to the crank and remove the radius into the sump.
CB mesure from the bottom of the block and get the measurement that your crank sticks out. make sure to roll the crank so you are sure of the measurement allow a 1/4 inch more and you will know what depth you want in your pan. then just get a cut off wheel make the cuts. Pull out the pan an collapse it over itself and weld it up. it will let you set the engine in just like the mustang II pan.
If you need a picture and some measurements I could get you some. I haven't started my project yet so the pan is not on the engine yet. email me at rsm2006@msn.com and we can go over everything.
Thanks for the picture and instructions, guys.
RSM, I will email soon.
Okey Dokey. I did see a pan on Ebay but it was really beat up on the bottom. It could be straightened but for what he's asking it should be clean and dent free.
