Title: Drive shaft?
Post by: 92jag on October 10, 2009, 02:50:09 AM
I have my pinto project near complete and wanted to know what cars have the right drive shaft that I need.

I have a c5 transmission and 8" rear. I need someting around 45" between the center of the yokes, give or take an inch or so. The stock pinto shaft would work but it is to small to fit over the splines on the c5 tranny.

Not sure what size splines the c5 has but i used a fox body mustang shaft on my t5 with a 8 inch.

I had a 1973, 2.0, C-4 Auto and a 6-3/4" rear.  I swapped out to a 2.3, T-5, 8" rear.  The shaft that originally came with my car fit perfectly! And, yes the yoke fit the T-5 as well. I belive, but can't confirm it was 45.5" long (going from memory here).

The rest of the Turbo Pinto should have been as easy.

Thanks problem solved. I just got a 45" Dynotech shaft off ebay for $35 it a 4" shaft rated for 900+ hp. I have the right yoke so I'll just swap it out and take a test drive.
