Title: NOS 1/4 panel
Post by: 78squirewagon on September 23, 2009, 12:33:14 PM
Ok here is a question for ya. I just picked up (from a friend CHEAP) a NOS drivers side 1/4 panel. It came from an old Ford dealership that had sat empty for some time and the new owners of the place happen to find a few misc pieces laying around.

This 1/4 panel still has the markings on the outside and the stickers from Ford on the inside. There is a little bit of surface rust but I can wipe it off with my hand.

Anyway, if one of you had it, would you use it on a car. I am not planning on it and will be using it as a show piece but I wanted to get your opinion on the matter.

I will post a few pictures later this week

Wagon 1/4 panel or Sedan 1/4 panel? I am assuming wagon...

Would I use it? Sure - if I needed it. Of course, if it was something I thought could be used as a tool-making pattern for repros, I would not use it, but in this case, since repros are far from likely (meaning, costs would be extraordinary), I would use it.

This one is for a coupe/hatchback. Sorry I forgot to mention that part. and yes, it would make a GREAT mold to re-produce more.

I just looked close at the sticker on the back and it came from the Chicago Depot then shipped to Madison WI

Nice. I bought a NOS inner fender recently from someone, it had been at a dealership in Wheeling, WV (and was marked like yours)for who knows how long. I love the history on this stuff!

I wouldn't hesitate to use it.  As for saving it as a pattern/mold for a reproduction, reproduction quarter panels are already available.  I bought mine online from Black Auto Parts.

OK, I like everyone's feedback  ;D   I don't think I am going to use it at least for now because you just don't see them in WI.  But keep posting your opinions and I will get a pic up today.  It's been a long week already but a good one so far.
