Title: Factory Sway Bar or ?
Post by: patcosca on October 23, 2004, 07:32:46 PM
I haven't seen a sway bar with heim joints on the end before.  Are these original our aftermarket?  Has anyone seen this before and can you tell me what brand it is?  It is on the front of my 72.

The only thing stock here is the bracket bolted to the lower control arm. Heim joint is after market along with the sway bar which looks like one sold by Traction Master Co. Stock factory links that go from bar to bracket work very well if you know how to use them. The bolt that goes through the U shape bracket must not be tighten over finger tight. I double nut the bolt to keep it in place, with out it being tight. Works ever time.

Actually, I do not believe any of the sway bar is factory. Im sure they did not ever use nylock nuts on their bolts and I have never seen that type of mounting bracket on a factory deal. My guess is the whole deal is after market. ( and yes, its not shiney ( yet) :o

It's an Interpart sway bar, the company was a off spring of BRE (Brock Racing Enterprises) which ran the factory Datsun 510 in the under 2.5 Trans Am.

The steet Pinto kit pulled better G numbers than the 510's.
