Has anyone had to replace the clutch fork on your pinto? The only replacement fork I can find is a mustang. It seems to have a different distance between the t/o brg. and pivot. Any suggestions?
I did have to change it once on my '78 and ran into the same problem you are having. Had to luckily find one in a wrecker yard. The 'spring', for lack of a better term, that holds the throwout bearing, had worn through on one side so needed to be replaced. Since they are riveted on, we swapped the entire fork.
Someone here should be able to help you with one. Good luck!

What year model are you looking for? Most have a part # stamped on them if you have it out. JT
Mine is out of a 1975 pinto with 2.3liter.
The Merkur will also work if need be.
I have a fork part # D5ZA-7515-BA supposedly for a pinto. Not sure as most pinto parts are a FZ suffix. Maybe you can compare #s or someone will recognize the ZA part. If it works you can have it for the shipping cost. JT
Well, I can't seem to make the mustang one work. How do we get the fork that you have? Where do I send the money to? I tried two different throw-out bearings and three different pivots. Still won't release.

I'm sure that you've tried it, but: don't forget to take out any stretch/slack in the clutch cable after any installation like this.
I found the problem and it wasn't the clutch fork?? The center of the clutch disc was rubbing the crankshaft bolts. The pressure plate was releasing but the disc was hung up. Everything works now. Thanks for your help.
Just for knowledge...was the disk installed backwards or were the bolt heads too tall? Glad to hear a problem solved. JT
The disc was in the right direction, the bolt heads were too tall.
