Title: I found 3 Pinto's in Philly
Post by: SageNip on September 06, 2009, 09:10:04 AM
Yep, I take the same exit off of I-95 every week and never saw it until last week.  Two ponies in a gated lot.  Of course I had to pull over and check it out.

A few months ago I took my 72 wagon to a car show. At the show a guy approached me saying he knew someone that needed two Pintos for a movie.  I gave the guy my info and never heard from him again.  Apparently these two Pintos are the ones that eventually WERE used for the movie (don't ask me, I don't know).  One is a yellow/tan 2 door sedan, mid seventies.  The other a blue and white hatchback with 85 Mustang 5.0 alloy wheels, also a mid seventies.  To top it off, the guy has a parts Pinto in the back with three different colors (hood, doors and fenders are all donor).  I was planning on buying up all three and making them sellers.  But, before I do that I figured I should do the right thing and post about it here.  Although I think I am the only Pinto enthusiast in the Philadelphia area, there may be someone else who shares our passion.

I do have pics (on my cell phone), I'll see about posting soon.

The blue and white one is on evilBay.
Item number:   200379540339 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1978-Ford-Pinto-Hatchback_W0QQitemZ200379540339QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item2ea78d2373&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245)

The blue one is a '78, the brown one is too hard to tell, but does have '77-'78 taillights, while the yellow one I would say is a '73 or older (has a rear lower valance, so it's a small bumper car)

I saw the blue one on eBay once before, so it must not have sold/not hit reserve.  Been curious to see what they'd ask for the yellow car, but I don't think they've ever listed it, so I wonder if it has paperwork issues.  If you do decide to get one or all, keep us updated.

Good luck!

One of  the guys working there called his boss.  He said he wante $1800 each for the working ones and $1000 for the parts one.  A bit high if you ask me.  All the cars need some love, the blue one looks nice, but the interior is wrecked, has a big old dent on the top pf a fender, I could go on.  I have always gotten my Pintos for under a grand, mostly under $500.  I want to make this guy an offer for what everything is REALLY worth, but I might p!ss him off.
