How do you tell the difference between a 2" and 2-1/4" input shaft on a power Pinto rack and pinion?
At least 2" or 2-1/4" as described at the Rock Auto site.
I was wondering this myself, but after some thought, I don't think it REALLY matters...
When I order a new one for mine, I will be getting the one with the 2 1/4" shaft.
The actual steering shaft (on the upper part of the universal joint) expands and contracts, with some force. I would shorten or lengthen my steering shaft to make it fit.
I'm not entirely certain if this will work, but it's what I have in plans. Haven't had the chance to double check my old steering shaft in storage to see how easy it is to adjust it, yet.
