This may sound like blasphemy, but I just installed LED's in both Pintos. What a FREAKING differance! All markers,turn/stop and guage pods. Brighter, cooler, less draw, boy do these things glow at night! I got both sets from Mustang Project for about $130.00 each car(custom package). Plug and play...the only thing to watch is that the LED's have a diode in the circuit and the current flows only one way. So it's important to plug them in the right direction or they won't light up. I'm lovin' life goin' down the road at night!
Yeah, and if your wallet can afford to drop $600, you can get LED headlights too! Well, at least for the round headlight cars. :hypno:
Seriously though, I have thought about switching everything in my green II to led. If everybody does nothing else, do yourself a favor and at least switch out the dome light. That will save the lens from 'browning' due to excess heat from the incandescent bulb.
Do these kits require the upgrade to the 'electronic' blinker, or do they work with the old bi-metal ones?
They work with the old style flashers.
Sounds like some creative night photos will be posted soon, right? ;) ;)

That is the truth... My group at work designs LED driver circuits (we make the ICs) and I see up front how it is mostly profit. The coolness factor is what drives them.
That $600 headlight may only cost 50 to build, cheaper in high volume. The $1000 bicycle headlight (yea, I have seen them...) costs 60 to build.

The kits I got are a custom order.....you call them and give them a list of the bulbs you want to replace.
example...2 1157a's for the front turn/marker lights
9 197 for the dash pod
2 amber/front marker 197's
2 red/rear marker 197's
They are working on the rear brake/turn in red right now.
etc. etc.
They don't have a kit for the Pinto.
i believe you can get the ones for the tail lights at autozone, the sockets are the same as the early model rx-7's
