Hello, folks. I'm a new member, having just purchased a Vintage Road Racer. This car has racing history all the way back to 1971 IMSA and has been campaigned with SVRA for the last several years. I'm absolutely thrilled to be taking possession of a car with this kind of history and plan to begin my vintage road racing career with it.
Well good luck with that. The car looks purty sweet.
:welcome: I want... :drunk:
71HANTO
I built the car in 1975 in Dallas, Tx. It was built for the old under 2L trans-am class. The class was drop'd before I finished the car so it was raced by me in SCCA till 1995. All the paint except the glass hood is orginal. The car was a "Group II" from the dealer. Car was also autocrossed in 93/94 and was the RRR region EP champ. Cage was built by Paul Peyton here in DFW. Had lots of fun with that one.
now that's the RIGHT way to recycle a car. keep it in the family (so to speak) and it is a real nice looking one too. good luck

Oh, my. Really? Dick, I would love to speak with you. I will send you a private email. Thanks!
:welcome: Jim! Love those early road racers! :fastcar: I see you are from Manassas, not to far from me. Where will you be racing?

Yes, not that far. Summit is the closest track, with several vintage races. I'll likely be seeing some track time at VIR, too.
that's a bitchin photo!
Wow, I have pictures of this Pinto all over my computer, didn't expect to find it here.
Looks great.
I'm looking to build my '71 into a Trans-Am style road course car to run at VIR and Autocross.
The car was delivered this past Saturday and absolutely surpassed my expectations. Dick, I owe you a phone call. Will try this weekend.

Jim,
Color Me Green with Envy. My '72 longs for the Level of Prep in your Ride. Mine will take a similar route to the Track, but will return to Hillclimb/AutoCross Duty first.
Thanks for the Video...

Great catch. I have been racin a 2 litre 74 Pinto in both SCCA and NASA and I am converting car to 72 spects to run vintage.
Did you buy Thomas Laird's car? I sold him a ton of parts about 5 years ago to start the car.
