Title: Pinto Insurance costs?
Post by: 72Wagon on July 21, 2009, 07:33:47 PM
What are you guys paying for insurance on your Pinto's. I realize this veries greatly due to location, but lets compare and please list your location. Also  include Coverage such as basic and or collision. If you have collision how high do you have your's valued?

I checked my  insurer today (State Farm) and they quoted me $60 (6 month)for basic and they would have to see the car before they would price me collision. And the value would be set by me if within reason. This is in Virginia and is for Antique tags which has driving restrictions.

Grundy Worldwide Collector Car Insurance (Va.)
$160.00 per year
0 deductible
$10,000 value
car must be garaged
no driving restrictions but I have antique tags so there are restrictions with that, however I love the last revision they made, "occasional pleasure use"
State Farm would only value the car at $2200, $500 deductible, $280 a year

State Farm

$45/mo. with liability, uninsured motorist 25,000 bodily per person, 10,000 property damage, $250 deductible. Bernalillo NM, Safe driver discount, driver age 36, rated 5,000 miles per year (pleasure use) due to disability and no commuter use.

No collector plate, I'm free to come and go as I please (I like it that way)

I was with Progressive before, $54 per month same coverage, but $500 deductible.

That is interesting, any limitations? How does that work with your state tags if you know what I mean? I have heard of them but don't know the details.

I think Haggarty and Grundy are pretty much the same, I sent in pics and filled out a form, told them how much I wanted to insure the car for. If they agree on the price you set that's all there is to it. No driving limitations (with Grundy) but it does have to be garaged.
