Title: 1972 Wiring harness
Post by: pinto1955 on July 20, 2009, 07:47:37 PM
Can anyone tell me if there's a difference in the main wiring harness from a standard transmission to an automatic transmission. I'm asking the question because it deals with the neutral safety switch as I'm considering changing to an automatic. Thanks for your help.

I had no trouble converting auto to 4 speed. The harness has 2 connectors near the firewall bulkhead IIRC I just switched from the auto trans harness to the manual harness and everything cranked and lit. The early 72 underhood harness is a little different from the late 72 in the alternator wiring, but otherwise the same. I believe I still have all the auto stuff so I'll try to check tomorrow evening. JT
