Title: what is the duration on a stock 1980 camshaft?

i was told if the duration on a pro cam is to far off of the stock cam that it wont idle and i cant find out what the stock duration is to know what duration is to much.......

Not 100% sure but somewhere around 272 (actual not @ .050) and the stock lift is .399. When you start getting to .290 and above the idle gets choppy but there are a lot of other things involved in picking a cam.

correct, when you get up to about 450 lift you need to look at clearance on the guide bosses and coil bind.
