Hey Y'all! Dan turned me on to this. I'm in spittin' distance to Vista (where Fred acquired that gorgeous Bobcat wagon) where this show is. The show is on August 2, 2009 and pre-registration is $20 and it's $25 at the door to show your car. I'm going to try to bring Wildfire and Dan said there's a few Pintos that show up co you so-Cal folks come on! Saturday Vista's having a BBQ contest that's tied in with the show on Sunday. Email: info@vvba.org or the web: www.vistarodrun.com (http://www.vistarodrun.com) ;D
AWWRIGHT!!! I'm signed up! YAY!!!
The two people in the Vista Business Association both walked out and looked at Wildfire. The lady (I don't remember her name) had a yellow '72 Pinto that she just HATED because she had a little girl who still needed a carseat and the lil' Pinto was not her cup of tea. The two Vista BA people both praised my baby though. On the way to a dr. appt Wildfire went lame. Hopefully it's just a spark plug. :-\
Good news: Wildfire is fine! I replaced the fuel filter and she runs strong again. Now...
Dan and myself are gonna be there. I believe my neighbor Jerry (who's been a truly great help with my cars) will be bringing his Falcon (anybody want to adopt a '60s Falcon with a killer engine but a body that needs TLC?) lol. Are you coming Brad? Anybody else? Darn it Fred! You should be here too with that sport accent '74! ;D
Becky,
Wish to heck I had a way to get there! Sounds like fun! Glad to hear Wildfire is up and running again!
Dwayne
Yes, I will be there. probably get there about 10:30 ish. I will not have my car there ( Dont ask ).
Brad, I'm sorry to hear that you're not bringing your baby. No I won't ask! ;) But I am glad you'll be there! ;D
So it's just us three chickens, huh? :-\ I'd sure like to see more SoCal folks (actually I'd LOVE for EVERYBODY to be here but realistically it's a pipe dream. You too Dwayne! :)
gotta work. pics....pics....pics....Please
Let me just say this. A Black fiberglass Pangra hood does not do well when blown off the car........ >:(
Ahhh no, Brad. I'm so sorry. Is it fixable? What a bummer. That would've been so cool at the show. There's no nice way to ask this, but how did it blow off? :'( ??? >:(
Brad, run east to Fred's house and uh "borrow" one of his. I'm sure he and Joy won't mind! ::)
I came, I saw, I did. I saw Dan and chatted with him for a little bit but other than that it was answering questions about my Pinto (these folks kept referencing Dan's Pinto! ;D) and enduring a few sneers from car snobs and ignoramuses (often one and the same!) Every now and then some arse would say something like, "I can't believe that (pointing to my Bronze Beauty) is in a classic car show." I was tempted to say, "I can't believe they let you walk in public." I was a good girl. Still...
Anyway, here's a few pix. Enjoy! I'll try to load more later. There were some bee-ootiful Rancheros there. ;D
Here's my display...
Becky,
Looks good to me. Never let idiots deter you from enjoying yourself at a car show! Go to as many as you can, and have a ball doing it!
Dwayne

  they just didnt know who they were messin with. Some people who have never did any collector cars or anything dont understand the passion that car people have. to those people i say :showback: :showback: kiss this. But to the small group of us that do mess with them appreciate every aspect of it. Especially the chance to get together and admire each others passion. Dont miss a chance to show her off and enjoy yourself.
Thank you guys for the lift! ;D The majority of folks who said anything at all were very positive. I just love taking her out anywhere- the local beanery, a show, the dog park... and having folks stop by and say things like, " I had one of those once", "I love your car!", "I had good memories riding in the back of one of those", My Aunt had a Pinto wagon", etc. It really makes my day. Bless him- my across the street neighbor and his mate were there too and he overheard someone making comments on Wildfire (I was cruising looking at other folks' rides) and he piped in about how I worked on her mostly by myself and got her running. It was a neat set-up for the show and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I'd give a kidney to get that Pinto Sprint in New Mexico and take her next year. ;D
The downer- no Starbuck's on the way there. :'( I like what my notepad says... Coffee! Life begins at forty... ounces that is!
:look:Hey bluepinto thanks for the photo, most of the people talking trash don't even change their own oil. there classic car wantabes. The real nice cars are mostly built in a custom shop and they wrote checks. You'll be very satisfied when you finish your car and know it's your own hard work. glad you brought your car. dan. :look:
Hey Becky and Dan, went to the show and talked to Becky but did not see Dan while I was there. Some interesting cars there but I liked the twin turbo car and the Gasser.
I was so happy to see both Dan and Brad on Sunday. Here's hoping Brad's "Black Beauty" can make it to Vista next year and Dan will be there too with his "Blue Bomb" (she's explosive, you know!) lol. And I'd love for more Pinto folks can come in the future (are you listening Fred? ;D) I can tell you, Wildfire willing, I'll be there next year too. ;D :D ;)
