Id like to see it saved but I have no way to get it from CA to AZ. link follows : http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/1265065679.html (http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/1265065679.html) please someone Save it =)

Thanks Fred! Your the man!!!  ;D

I talked to hubby and he is willing to borrow the truck from our friend and take a day off work so we can go get the wagon if we buy it! Boy all in one breath!! LOL

If all goes right with the rust factor, pink slip factor, and non op factor. Ok, maybe not the rust or non op factors, or pinkslip for that matter! LOL If all goes right, I'm hoping to be a wagon owner in a week or two!!!!!!

I'm excited and hope it all works out!! Cross your fingers for me!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Chad, thanks alot for the tip on this wagon!! I have been looking for a decent wagon for a little while now! Well, actually for a decent wagon I can afford!! LOL

I am 99.9% positive I will buy it. In fact, if it wasn't for my hubby wanting some more details, I would probably be paying for it now! LOL Darn husbands!

I"m all ready trying to think of names for it! Hard to do with only one pic of it! LOL

If I remember right, he told me it was brown on the inside. (This is why I like emails more then phone calls, my memory sucks! LOL) He started to paint it black though.  The outside appears to be white.

The first name I came up with is White Chocolate, then my other name is White Mocha! LOL  That is all I can think of right now! I know I shouldn't be thinking of names, but as long as he will let me have first chance at it, meaning he won't sell it till I get the info I asked about, then it will most likely be mine anyway! LOL

As you can all tell, I get pretty anxious when I see something I want! LOL Again, I say, darn husband! LOL

Ok, I'm calling him back tomorrow and asking my questions that I emailed him today! LOL I really want this car!! Guess I better get busy and get another motor running for it!! LOL

use trans fluid  it will free it up in a very short time. I had one i used penetrating oil and reg oil  and it still would not budge  after 2 weeks ( i broke a braker bar on it)  some one sugested trany fluid  i cleaned out the oils that had been soaking and put the trany fluid in and  by the time  i got my tools out it was moving some and with in a half hr. i could turn it by hand. neved did end up using  the block but it is my garage and almost 2 yrs later i can still turn it by hand.

Ok, I called the guy back again today and asked the questions hubby wanted me to ask. Some of the answers were great, some not so great! I am now waiting on some more info, then I will be able to determine if we will get the car! I mean, if it was up to me alone, I would go for it, but I have to get that "ok" from the hubby! LOL I hope to know by tomorrow if things will work out!

On another note, I found out that the car was a squire and that the guy pulled off the wood panels. The car is actually in primer grey. Not white! Didn't think to ask him what color it was at one time. LOL I am going to guess it was brown, do to it haveing brown interior at one time! What's your guesses?? Don't call and ask either!! LOL

That green one? Yeah, it is beautiful! The one I'm drooling on is a '75 Squire with (get this): Saddle Bronze Metallic (like Wildfire, my '74) and a V6 automatic. It also sports those mag wheels I love (the forged aluminum slotted ones with the center caps). Too bad they want like $1500 for it.  :-\

No the did not Make a Cruising version, My dad when he owned the car, bought them at a p&p for 50 bucks windows and all. didnt have the trim parts but the rest was there. he brought them home and Promptly installed them .. lol Been that way ever since. I love the car. its been in my family now since I was 6 years old. im the 4th owner. Very first owner was Hertz rent-a-car in Los angelos CA. Second was the impound yard it was at. then my dad then me lol =)

Stock color code. Not sure but i think its Glacier white. or polar white. That wont stay. Im using the OE 2003 Mustang LAser red. with Platinum Silver Stripes up the hood and Down the Hatch Skipping the Top of the car. Kind of a mix between the Classic Chevy stripe and the Shelby Stripe. too much top for stripes lol.

Well, kinda! LOL I can tell you that it hasn't been registered since 88. So it is still on file, I don't know how but it is. So that means we will have to get a bill of sale from Randy and also have the bill of sale from the shop he got it from to him. Then see what DMV has to say. So it's not going to be to fun on that part, but hubby said to go ahead and buy it and we will deal with it! He also knows it isn't reported stolen ( I doubted it would have been, LOL), but that is all he could find out at this time.

I'm not sure what we will do exactly yet as far as back fees. That is if there will be any at all! Fred said they didn't have non ops in 82, but I"m not sure when they started having them. If it was after 88, we should be ok and not have to pay back fees. If we do have to pay back fees, we will have to have the car turned in for junk, then revived! So that would mean a salvaged title. Not good, but better then paying 20 years of back fees! LOL I just don't see how this thing is still on file?? Maybe someone started a transfer then never finished, don't know. I havn't talked to Randy about that, but from what he has told me, it didn't sound like he did that!

Guess I will find out when we go get the car! LOL
Title: Re: not sure where to put this but here goes
Post by: 75bobcatv6 on July 16, 2009, 09:47:09 PM
If you are purchasing the car you shouldnt have to pay the back fee's on the Vehicle Ive never had to do that on any car ive ever had. only Title Transfer fee. you are taking possesion of a car that hasnt been on the road since 1982 which means there should be no registration fee's at all. its something you can fight and Usually win with with DMV. they have tried to get me before but Never succeded. The Prior owners were responsible for those fee's not you. or the car.

It used to be a Squire? I like wagons. It just looks like bullet holes, that's all

Have fun with your new toy, Kim!

I lived in Granite Bay in 1996. I bought a 73 Datsun, but never registered it in CA because they wanted $400 in back fees for my $200 mustard yellow 610 4door(didn't matter to them if I paid it or the prev owner paid it). Things might have changed since then. I drove it back here and registered it for $36. I couldn't afford to drive if I lived in CA.

Yah, in CA, the fees go with the car! Isn't that nice!!!   I don't think it should work that way, but that is how they make more money. That will also mean my wagon (if it doesn't already have one) will have a salvaged title! I will have to wait and find out more of the details when I go pick it up! I'm getting it no matter what!! LOL  It really won't matter if it has a salvaged title because I am going to customize it eventually anyway!  ;D

Only bad thing is, I would have to most likely have a lien sale done on it, which takes a little over 30 days to complete. That is another 30 days I can't have the car! Bummer! Then once it cleared, the tow yard could junk it, then I would have to do a brake and light inspection, and then I could register it for alot less!!

I wonder what 20 years of back fees would come up to be? LOL Couple grand??? LOL

Stop me if I'm trippin', but doesn't the car fall off the "books" after 7 years? I've been told that by a couple car-savvy people but I don't have the inside scoop on Limeade. Or whatever you'll name your new baby. Didn't I tell you I visualized you getting it Kimmy!? I'll bet it has the coveted Squire inner door panels too. You know where to send those if you're not feeling them!  ::) ;) ;D Life is looking good at Pinto Ranch!

Yes Becky, you are almost right! LOL I called DMV and they said that it falls off the books after 5 years! BUT, if someone calls on it and gives DMV the vin and plate numbers, it is then back in their system. Don't ask me how that all works, but that is what the DMV lady told me. She didn't want me to give her any numbers, just in case it did drop out of their systems, it would still be out when I went to reg. it. Then I wouldn't have to pay any back fees.

I will check with DMV once we get the car! If it is in the system, it will be junked!

PG dont Junk it. if you think it is worth fixing at all. I will help you out. You can reg it using My address from CA. Avoid the fee's =). AZ doesnt do that with cars. thank freakin heaven for that. you dont have to pay Penalties for someone elses screw ups with registration, you pay to reg it thats all.

Thanks for the offer Chad! I may take you up on that if all else fails!

But, don't you all think if I make a cruising wagon out of it, it would lose it's value anyway?? I'm going to buy some cruising wagon panels and weld them on! Well I think anyway, never tried to do anything like that, not sure if one would weld it or maybe there is another way of attatching them?? I'll figure that out once I have the car and the panels! LOL ;D

I will still take you up on the offer, and keep the title clean though, that is if it comes to it!  ;D

the CW panels Screw on. Mine are going to be welded filled and Molded in. so lots of work but will be worth it in the end. If you plan to CW it go for it. Its not got the motor in it anyways so why not.

Do you take the original windows out of the car or just leave them in and screw/weld the panels over them?

Not including today, only 1 day left!!!!!!!!!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/cheerleader.gif)  I work all night tonight so I will sleep most of tomorrow, then 3am Sat. morning comes will early!!!!!!!! ;D ;D  The Shagon Wagon trip is almost here!!!!

Ok, so far I have decided I want to put the remote controlled sport mirrors on it. That will also be in line with making it into a 'cruisin wagon'!! I am hoping it won't be a problem to run the cables in a non sport mirror car! Also, believe it or not, I think if the carpet is ratty, I may go with the times, and put... wait for it...... SHAG carpeting in it!!!!!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/myhrdly/ohyea.gif)  I liked Becky's shag and the Pinto at the scrap yard with the shag looked good too. Now the only problem would  be is finding shag, and finding it cheap enough to get for a car!!!  :amazed: ;D

I also figured that if I can't find any cruisin wagon panels, I will tent to windows a dark tint for now. May even check into that stuff that is colored on the outside, but can see through from the inside. If I could afford that and have it the same color of the car (or close to it) I think it would look neat!!

As you can see, I don't think about the car often!!! LOL

Oh, and I think I will name it The Shagon Wagon! Not going to hold to it yet though, don't know what the characteristics of the car is yet. But for now, it's The Shagon Wagon!! Besides, if I get Shag carpet for the insides, that would match it's name too!! LOL Maybe I should make some tie dyed curtains for it!!!!! LOL

Oh Kimmy I'm so excited for you!!!  :happy_bday: ;D :D :drunk:
Many moons ago (no, not when Matt came to the "pool" without his shorts! lol.) I pulled inner door panels (the black ones in my gallery) off a Pinto Squire that had adorable little curtains in it. Naturally I thought "if those curtains could talk..." Shag wasn't in my vocab in those days- at least not the curtain-worthy meaning!

GO KIMMY! GO KIMMY! GO KIMMY!

I will start a project thread for The Shagon Wagon, so look for that for the pics of the car!!!

I think it was a pretty good deal all in all!! I even ended up with another early grille!! It is in good shape except two tabs on one side are broke off. I have one of the tabs so I will try to fix it, but if all else fails, I will rig a way to keep that side on. Atleast it has all its teeth!! LOL

Yah, it was quite the haul! Truck bed stuffed full and the inside of the car was stuffed full! Some of the parts were for the wagon, some were from a later model wagon, and some were from a hatch back!

Sorry to say, but the wheels don't match. I think there is one of one kind, maybe 2 or three of another kind, and again one of another! They look close to being the same, but once they are together you can see the differences. I will take better pics of them tomorrow if I get time. I'm not sure what size they are. I can measure them tomorrow too, again, if I get time! I really want to wash the Shagon Wagon!! LOL

Yah, I think I got a pretty darn good deal. I got a lot of parts, but some are good, some are ok, and some were just something! LOL

Is that a tan interior door (deluxe) panel I see in one of the pix? It's on the ground. Does it have the filly on it?

As for the wheels, if you are thinking of selling any of them I really only need one. It has a black stripe around it like these wheels. IO thought I had four matching but when I tried to polish one of them it wouldn't come out shiny! The stripe wasn't quite as wide as the other Ford ones so that told me it doesn't match.

Yes, it is a cream color panel with the filly. I think it is the original one out of the wagon. I also think the PO may have painted the other one black, but just never got to that one. I havn't looked at the black one close enough yet to see if that is what he did though! I will be putting the cream one back on the wagon, and then eventually look for another cream one to match!

I don't think these wheels have the black stripe or ever had a spot for one! I will take some better pics tomorrow! I do have only one really shiney one though. The rest are more of a dull alluminum!

Throw away a Pinto part!!!!!! How could those words even come out of your mouth? You better go out to your Pintos and ask for forgiveness! LOL   ;D

Yah, I won't throw it away! LOL It will be on the car for a while! This is the first set (besides yours) that I have seen. Even in about 4 or so Pintos I have seen at the scrap yards, there were no panels like these!! I was thrilled to finally have some!!  ;D I think they are cool with the filly on them!!

I may try to customize my back door with the panel if I ever do find the right one for the passenger door. That is if it will fit on the inside of the back door? Maybe to long. I was thinking I could put fancy buttons in the holes for the handles and stuff on attach it to the door. Like I said, it is proably to long though! It was just a thought, I just thought of! LOL ;D

Well, you do have that tan panel off... go ahead and "fit" it on the inner hatch door. In my gallery pix under Pinto Treasures I have a different panel design- same filly, different "wood" trim. You could make something like that work! I'm still kicking myself for not buying those whole panels back in the early '90s. Sometimes I can be a moron... :cheesy_n:
